About this chapter
Behind all the rules in this course stand a few acts. The Shipping Traffic Act covers traffic on the water, the Inland Shipping Act what applies on board, including the boating licence. Which regulations apply depends on the water: almost everywhere the BPR, on the Rhine branches the RPR, and on a few waters regulations of their own.
In lesson 1 you learn which act and which regulations apply where, and who regulates traffic and carries out checks. In lesson 2 you learn when you need a boating licence, how you get one and who may steer. In lesson 3 you learn what you must have on board, which markings your boat carries and what applies to alcohol.
