Lesson 2 Small motorboats
What is a small vessel?
A vessel shorter than 20 m is a small vessel (klein schip). There are exceptions. A passenger vessel (passagiersschip), for example, is never a small vessel, even when it is shorter. A passenger vessel may carry more than 12 passengers. A vessel that tows, pushes or carries alongside a large vessel does not count as a small vessel either.
A motor vessel (motorschip) is a vessel that uses its engine to move. This lesson is about a small motor vessel under way on its own. Here we simply call it a motorboat.
